Last spring, we held the 23rd annual Evening of Decadent Dessert and raised more than $129,000! The Aspire Children’s Raffle, which was drawn for at the event, raised $35,000 making our grand total $164,000!
Thank you to all of the event, guests, sponsors, donors and volunteers for supporting Aspire in our work to provide programs and services for local children with special needs. The 2018 Evening of Decadent Dessert will be held on Friday, May 11 and tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 9.
Evening of Decadent dessert is an essential piece of the puzzle at Aspire. It is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and all proceeds from this fabulous evening support the programs and services at Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, as well as fee assistance for families.
As a guest, you will enjoy a champagne reception, buffet dinner, live entertainment, raffles and silent auction. The highlight of the evening is an exciting live auction, featuring one-of-a-kind desserts created by chefs and bakers from across Central Alberta. These desserts may be sold individually or in combination with high-quality auction packages.

The highlight of Evening of Decadent Dessert is the wonderful array of decadent desserts, donated by local businesses and individuals.
Please consider donating TWO identical desserts: one will be used in our live auction and will be served to our guests in the Decadent Dessert Buffet later that evening. The second dessert will be presented to the purchaser in the form of a gift certificate or voucher for a dessert of equal value to be redeemed at a later date of their choosing.
Alternatively, you may wish to donate TWO desserts to our Decadent Dessert Buffet. One dessert will be featured in our Decadent Dessert Buffet (served to guests after the auction), which is a highlight of the evening.
The second dessert will be presented to the winner of a door prize in the form of a gift certificate or voucher (of equal value to the first dessert) for redemption at a later date, so that they can claim their prize at a time of their choosing.

Be a part of a great team! Every year, volunteer contributions are at the heart of Evening of Decadent Dessert.
We invite volunteers to be part of the planning committee or to provide help at the event. We welcome and appreciate all volunteer assistance!
Description and tasks: We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and manage volunteers specific to Evening of Decadent Dessert.
Help with recruitment is needed from February until the event on Friday, May 11, 2018. You will be given information on the number of volunteers needed for each role that you are recruiting for. You will also be provided with past volunteer information.
Day-of volunteer management on Friday, May 11 will include being responsible for volunteer check-in and directing them to their appropriate stations. You will be on hand to answer questions from volunteers, and you will be on-site at the event from 4:30pm until 10:30pm.

Silent Auction Phone Volunteers (6 people needed)
Description and tasks: Prior to the volunteer phoning tasks, request letters will be mailed out by Aspire staff to the list of past silent auction donors. Volunteer phoners will then make follow-up calls to their list of 10+ prospective donors every week or two until receiving confirmation whether or not past donors will donate again this year. Picking up the items and bringing them to Aspire is sometimes needed, but not always.
Aspire has a script to follow, as well as a great list of past donors. The silent auction brings in close to $24,000 of the total Evening of Decadent Dessert funds raised for Aspire. It is an important way of helping children with special needs and their families in Red Deer and Central Alberta.
Help is needed from mid-January until the event on Friday, May 11th, 2018. 5-7 hours a month approximate time commitment. Training is provided.

Wine Raffle Coordinator needed
A Wine Raffle Coordinator is needed to acquire three display containers to use for three prize groups, as well as work with a list of donors to solicit a few bottles of wine and then put all the donated wine in the containers before the event on May 11th.
