We recognize that each situation is unique.

Sometimes a family wants more support at home or in their community program. Also, school programs may require assessment or intervention services to support a child in their classroom. Our Consultation & Training Services allow you to design your own program by choosing from any of the services offered.

What does an Occupational Therapist do?

Occupational Therapists (OTs) help children develop skills for daily living. OTs help children to be successful with playing, learning, being comfortable in their own bodies and being successful with others around them. They assess fine motor (e.g. using hands in play or for writing) and daily living skills (e.g. ability to get dressed) to provide strategies for each child they work with.

They provide strategies for:

  • Fine motor skills – using hands to manipulate tools in play or for writing
  • Daily living skills – getting dressed, eating, hygiene and toileting
  • Sensory or regulatory needs – making sense of the information received through the five senses as well as through movement and balance
  • Visual-motor skills – eye-hand coordination for activities such as pre-printing and puzzles
